Burger Line – Austin, Texas

The Independence Day Parade I featured yesterday ended at a park. Volunteers had the charcoal grill going full speed, cooking burgers and hot dogs.

I ate earlier than usual, at 11:30 a.m. (I usually eat lunch at about 2 p.m.), while the line was short. The burger had a lovely smokey taste with fresh fixings. With the food out of the way, I snapped away.

The grill created a lot of smoke, which was undoubtedly great for the grilled smokey taste and for photography. The haze you see above the people is the result, with filtered light from the tree canopy creating a beautiful effect. It was a great way to celebrate the 4th and to document a slice of community life. Not all photography has to be from exotic places or special events. Capturing everyday life is arguably more important and more personal.
