Carnival Pizza, Rodeo Austin – Austin, Texas

We were approaching peak blue hour, and I was excited to photograph the colorful food stalls. Believe it or not, that was one of my primary motivations for going to Rodeo Austin.

I haven’t talked about it recently, but one of my favorite subjects is brightly colored structures during blue hour. My preferred structures are usually buildings downtown, but I also like these colorful carnival booths. Bright LEDs are great, too, but for the ultimate in mood and character, I like traditional neon.

If you didn’t know, I’m also a big fan of pizza, my comfort food, after living in New York City for years. I wasn’t adventurous enough to try Carnival Pizza, however. I can get picky about my pizzas; even most normal restaurants aren’t ultimately satisfying. In Austin, my favorite New York Style is from Home Slice, which I’ve blogged about often.
