Halo at Paramount+, SXSW 2024 – Austin, Texas

I was excited to discover a Star Trek set at the Paramount+ SXSW venue. I subscribed to Paramount+ just for the Star Trek TV shows, and I haven’t bothered watching anything else. I rushed up to the second floor and waited in line to discover a rather lame setup. There was a captain’s chair in the middle of a large space with faux Star Trek graphics on the walls — except they didn’t look like anything from the show.

Disappointed, I didn’t even take a picture of it or get my portrait sitting in the captain’s seat. Back on the first floor, the Halo exhibit seemed more enticing. Halo is a popular video game that has been turned into a streaming show. I’ve watched one episode that seemed okay. I might watch more if I get around to it.

On the other hand, my son, a video game aficionado, was disappointed with the show, claiming it violated a key principle of the story. I like technology-oriented Sci-Fi shows, so Halo has some promise. At least the set looks more in keeping with the show, though I say that without being an expert in the franchise’s look and feel.
